First, let’s rewind six months. In December 2022, we launched our magical Winter Wish Deck by Lithuanian artist Aliaga Mirguseinov marking our first step towards destination zero emissions. Greener gaming is making an impact as every purchase of the deck generates green coins for players to pledge to positive climate projects verified by our friends at PlanetPlay.
So where have the green coins been going?
Helped by you - The Hongera project aims to distribute 150,000 energy-efficient cookstoves to rural Kenyan families - resulting in a reduction of 1,706,623 tonnes of CO2 emissions over the project's lifetime!
Clean cookstoves can really make a difference. From using less wood to producing less polluting smoke - 150,000 families across rural Kenya can cook safer and faster, reducing carbon emissions. The thermal efficient cookstove needs a fraction of the wood used in traditional three-stone stoves - reducing the need to cut down trees and giving forests a chance to recover. Over its lifetime each cookstove can save up to 25 tonnes of CO2 emissions. In the same time period, over 375 trees would be required to reduce the equivalent CO2 amount. 🌳

Since PlanetPlay's launch in early this year, thanks to our game studios partners like Flick, we have engaged with hundreds of thousands players on the journey of protecting and reviving our planet through play.
